Adoptable Animals: Vaccinations and Medical Treatments | PAWS has healthy animals for adoption because of our care and medication protocol. PAWS animals are up-to-date on current vaccinations and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

The Adoption Procedure | To adopt an animal from the Hertford County Animal Shelter please complete and submit the online adoption application. An adoption counselor will get in touch with you after the application is received. The adoption process includes:
* PAWS of Hertford County reserves the right to decline any potential adopter based on established criteria, the interview with the adopter, observations or knowledge of the adopter, or a review of the formal Adoption Application and Contract. For approved adopters, the adoption fee for adult dogs (over one year) is $175.00, and puppies (less than one year) is $225.00, and includes the above mentioned vaccinations and medical treatments, as appropriate for their age. For approved adopters, the adoption fee for kittens (less than one year) is $110.00, and adult cats (over one year) is $90.00, and includes the above mentioned vaccinations and medical treatments, as appropriate for their age. For dogs and cats both, microchip registration for the chip that PAWS implanted, is a one time fee of $10.99, paid directly to the microchip company.

Bring the application with you to an adoption event, leave it at the shelter for someone to contact you, or mail it in to the address on the top. B. On line completion and submission. If you choose this option and submit a form successfully, you will get a message and email stating that the form was submitted. Spay and Neuter Policy | PAWS stresses the importance of spaying and neutering to reduce unwanted births, to stop animal overpopulation and to protect the health and safety of the public. PAWS requires that all pets adopted from us must be spayed or neutered. | |
